Care Instructions

Although self-sufficient, terrariums need to be cared for properly so they can thrive and stay healthy and glowing green. We recommend keeping an eye on them for a couple of weeks while they settle into your environment, spotting any changes in color or general appearance. Here’s a general guide with relevant info on how to look after your new mini world. You must consider these three key factors: Light, Water and Temperature.

Light

These terrariums need indirect sunlight although artificial light may also be used (fluorescent or LED lights). Never place them in dark spaces. Never expose them to direct sunlight.

Spaces near windows or balconies are highly recommended, you can place them 1-5 feet from the window. Providing enough indirect sunlight or artificial light will keep them healthy.

Water

You will only need to water your closed terrarium roughly every 2 months and only if they look dry. If the glass is clear all the time and no condensation is showing is a good sign that it’s a little dry.

We recommend using natural spring water, distilled water or even water from the rain. If you ever want to leave the terrarium open, you will have to water it more frequently, just like an outdoor garden (once a week).

Our CANAIMA terrariums come in different sizes, ranging from small to large. The volume of water will depend on the size of the model you have

Temperature

We choose the best plants for this kind of closed environment. Inside the terrarium, every plant sets and controls its own temperature. However, we recommend storing the terrarium between this range of temperature: 40 °F (4 °C) to 90 °F (32 °C).
